It will become very evident over the next four or so weeks that Robin and I have very different blog voices. After all, I am not a pastor nor am I a public or political speaker. I do not identify as L, G, B, or T and the only thing I am questioning these days is how in the world a small-town girl and mother of three ended up co-piloting a gigantic RV on a Baptist revival tour one month before turning 50.
So I will do my best to bring our many AWAB family members and other wonderful people who choose to join us on this Living Jubilee Revival Tour virtually or in person a first hand, fresh and sometimes humorous view of what it is like to pack up our belongings, (including about 20 pairs of shoes), kiss your family & friends goodbye and embark on an adventure half way across the country spreading the good news of the reality of Welcoming & Affirming Baptist churches.
Aside from some frantic last minute packing, torrential down pours, some crazy traffic, and quite a few confused glances, our first full day has been fairly easy. (I can say this since I am not the one that was driving.) We reached our first stop in Easton, PA where we were welcome by the Tavalaro family, who, like so many other compassionate servants of God, opened their doors wide and welcomed road weary travelers into their warm & gracious home with food, drink and wonderful company.
After I hauled my sorry behind up the tiny camper ladder and into my lofted bunk over the RV’s cab, phoned home, and had a brief chat with God, I had time to reflect upon what my part of this historical journey might be. And what I can share is I am still not entirely sure. But as I drifted off to sleep lulled by the crickets in the grass I was suddenly comforted by the realization that Robin and I are not the first nor will we be the last people that have been called to hand our fate over to the Spirit knowing in our hearts that we will be guided by Her gentle hand to do exactly what needs to be done.
One final note, I am so very excited to have chance to meet all of you. So I am personally inviting you to join us in your city or follow us online because it is sure to be a wonderful and wild ride!
Peace and Blessing, Jodi
